ARTIST STATEMENT
My artwork series depicts the theme of beauty. The concept of beauty is always changing and differs for each person. Something that one person thinks is disgusting, might be beautiful to someone else. This is significant to me because there is so much beauty around us and some people don't appreciate what it is. It might be things in nature, or a person, or an action, but there is always beauty in the world. This can be relevant to others because no matter what, someone thinks that something out there is beautiful and deserves to be captured. My limitations will be that it must be photographed, at least one must be in black and white, and at least three must be photos of people and the rest can be photos of nature, or of anything else.
She is beautiful inside and out. People will see her first by the beauty of her face, but then realize that she has a beautiful personality. The world will judge her on her looks, instantly without giving her a chance. Even though she is a lovely person, society will only see her face and body and label her as "beautiful" no matter what her personality is. That is the problem with society: people judge someone's beauty based on their appearance, and not on the more important things in life, like someone's personality.
Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and kinds. This little guy is beautiful, not only because of the details and patterns on his wings, but the overall shape of him and the way his wings are spread out creates a pleasing picture. His solitude on the leaf gives off a sense of peace and serenity because he is the only thing on the leaf. His solitude creates beauty and focuses on him, and only him. This shows the simple things in life are beautiful.
The beauty of this image is outstanding. The couple in this image has been together for over a year and they have had a solid relationship throughout that time. They are now trying to make it work in a college setting, but there are going to be ups and downs, which they have already experienced. The fact that they love each other enough to put up with each other for over a year and through the good times and the bad is something so beautiful that not even the stress of homework and college can tear them apart. Nature is beautiful in so many ways. In this image the woman is observing the beauty of nature with her own beauty. The combination of nature and human beings is complex and interesting thing. The composition of this image combines nature one one side and human interaction on the other. The combination of nature and human is a beautiful thing. Even the rain won't stop the beauty in the world. Sometimes it even enhances the beauty of the world. This image proves that when life give you lemons, the world can create it's own lemonade. The beauty that comes from the aftermath of the rain, makes the rain more tolerable and serves a purpose to the beauty of the world. All there is in Ohio is corn. We pass it as we drive to any location more than 50 miles away from our homes. It is the first thing that pops into peoples' heads when they think of Ohio. Even though corn is dull, ugly, repetitive, there is still beauty in the ugly. This corn may look like it's dying and there is no use for it anymore, but it still provides many people with food and nutrition. Within the ugly, there is beauty in the use of the corn. As the weather changes, the image of nature changes as well. The winter causes the trees to dry out and reveal their branches. The bare branches she the true beauty of the tree. The leaves are the outside beauty, but when they shed, the branches bring out the true beauty and stability of the tree. Just like people, where the beauty is underneath the surface, the trees are the same way. Fall is a beautiful time of the year. The leaves change, the colors become more vibrant, and the world just seems to get brighter. The beauty of the trees creates a wonderland of oranges, reds, and yellows from the walk to my dorm to class. As I walk, I see the beauty of the changing colors and realize that the world, despite the changing that always takes place, will always be beautiful, no matter the season. |
